Black as Night

Last time, we had white – now let’s paint in darker – black! Often associated with the dark – as in pitch black, something negative as in – evil, let us now check out some anime that have Black in their titles.

Black Butler

Sebastian Michaelis, as how he holds himself is a very proper and elegant butler. He is the best at what he does – very graceful, precise, and reliable and shows his vast knowledge and wisdom in many topics. He is a well sought butler and anyone would want his services – but interestingly enough, he serves as twelve year old master, the young orphan aristocrat - Ciel Phantomhive.

A usual ruckus, the Phantomhive manor is set in order as Sebastion handles things. If the incompetent people can’t do it, surely he could – as he would do anything to please his master.

Then, why black? A dark butler? It is revealed that Sebastian is actually a dealer. Upon the death of his parents, Ciel made a pact with this demon, in exchange for his soul – that he would serve him as a butler. A black butler indeed.


Darker than Black

Ten years after the appearance of the Hell’s Gate, Tokyo has been then swarmed with people with special abilities. But these abilities don’t come cheap as the use of such special powers and abilities are exchanged for certain prices that will be set by the ability user himself. Whenever the power is used, they pay the price – this is why they are called Contractors.

In the present, Contractors have been employed as spies and assassins by many organizations in various nations. Hei, the main character of this dark series is one of them.



They sure do live up to their dark name!
