Anime Review: Final Fantasy VII: Last Order

Posted: May 07, 2010

Final Fantasy VII: Last Order is a short movie based on the forgotten events in Final Fantasy VII where the main character Cloud is saved by his best friend from being a mere test subject. In the process, Cloud loses some of his memories and his friend ultimately sacrifices himself in order to save him.

Plot

Providing the clarity for the gap in Cloud Strife’s memories regarding the death of his best friend, savior and comrade, Final Fantasy VII: Last Order depicts the adventures and the hardships Zack Fair had to endure in order to save the life of his best friend Cloud. It follows their breaking out from the lab, to their escape, and the shoot out mission to take them both down.

Art

The art is as smooth and as impressive as it could be. The characters were translated well in two dimensional art and for the first time, the hero Zack Fair is shown in full detail. The action scenes in the movie was exceptional that it was very difficult to not marvel at its awesomeness.

Characters

We see characters from Final Fantasy VII getting animated. Along with the Turks and the great SOLDIER Sephiroth himself. The character designs have been faithful to the designs that have been used in the game – so seeing them in their anime goodness is such a treat.

Overall

It is an animated that shouldn’t be missed by any Final Fantasy VII fan. As it fills the gaps in Cloud’s memories and recollection of the story, seeing the real deal is definitely a treat to Final Fantasy fans.
