A Taste of History

Posted: April 04, 2010

Who says anime series’ and mangas are pure entertainment? There surely are a lot of things that can be the center of anime series’ and mangas so it should be no wonder that something that actually happened become its central idea – so here you go! A taste of history!

Axis Powers Hetalia

It pokes fun on human history, a weird twist to the World Wars indeed. Axis Powers Hetalia, or simply Hetalia and APH lifts its characters from the actual nations of the world, existing or merged, personified them and gave them personalities that would be characteristic of their citizens. Taking all the stereotypes together and making them characteristics of one person – giving birth to a personified nation! With their characters, funny personalities and actual events that ould be twisted into something humorous, Hetalia teaches world history in the funniest ways possible – just don’t take everything seriously!

Peacemaker Kurogane

A kind of Japanese history lesson of sorts, Peacemaker Kurogane relates history in a dramatic way. While most of the events are of fiction, it allows viewers and readers the taste of the tragic days of the great land during its chaotic wars. It also allows a peek into the old world of Japan, giving a better understanding as to how it came to be and as to why it became the way it is now. A treat and a different take in history as it is!
